Lavender Essential Oil: What It Actually Does, and How to Use It

Lavender is one of the most reached-for essential oils for a reason — it's genuinely versatile, and the research behind it holds up better than most "wellness" claims do.

What it's actually made of

Our lavender oil is steam-distilled from the flowering tips of Lavandula Angustifolia, grown in France. Steam distillation is the traditional, gentle extraction method that preserves the oil's natural compounds without solvents.

What it's traditionally used for

Lavender has been used for centuries for relaxation and calm — added to bathwater, used in massage, or diffused in a room before bed. Its scent profile is soft and floral, which is why it's one of the most common "gateway" oils for people new to aromatherapy.

How to actually use it

  • Diffuser: A few drops in a diffuser, particularly in the evening
  • Diluted for skin: Always dilute in a carrier oil (like our organic body oils) before applying to skin — essential oils are concentrated and shouldn't go on skin neat
  • Pillow or fabric: A drop on a tissue or cotton pad near your pillow, not directly on bedding

A note on quality

Not all lavender oil is the same. Ours is 100% pure, organic, with no synthetic fragrance added — check the label on any essential oil for "fragrance" or "parfum" listed as an ingredient, which signals it's been cut with synthetic additives.
